Kolping Family Schmelz St. Marien takes over sponsorship of the GUTE ZWECK LADEN Schmelz

At the end of March 2022, the private network "Ukraine Hilfe Schmelz - Saarland" was founded to support the Ukrainian refugees arriving in Schmelz. An important issue from the beginning was the procurement of materials. Since then, the team around Christiane Görgen has been taking care of the acceptance and distribution of clothing, furniture, toys, household items, durable food and hygiene articles and much more. At the beginning of April, a central location was set up with fixed drop-off and pick-up times: The GUTE ZWECK LADEN. This was opened in October 2022 for ALL people in need. Since then, in addition to Ukrainian refugees, people in an emergency situation, regardless of their nationality, have a place to go every Monday at the GUTE ZWECK LADEN. Here they can find not only clothing and shoes, but also blankets or household items, as well as non-perishable food and hygiene articles if needed.

At the end of 2022, it was clear that there would be a need for a drop-in centre for people in need in the municipality of Schmelz in 2023. Thus, the GUTE ZWECK LADEN should also be continued in 2023. Therefore, the private initiative "Der GUTE ZWECK LADEN Schmelz" should be secured under association law. A good partner was found in the Kolping Family of Schmelz St. Marien, which will take over the sponsorship of the GOOD PURPOSE SHOP from 1 March 2023.

"The needs of the time will teach you what to do". This quote by Adolph supports the mission statement of all Kolping Families and so taking over the sponsorship of the GOOD PURPOSE SHOP was a logical step, which the Executive Board of the Kolping Family Schmelz St. Marien unanimously agreed to. The team of the GUTE ZWECK LADEN around Christiane Görgen can now continue to take care of people in need from Schmelz in the usual way, the well-known donation account remains and will be continued.
